统计学（Statistics），研究如何测定、收集、整理、归纳和分析反映客观现象总体数量的数据，以便给出正确认识的方法论科学。其目的是要解决问题。*(1)
数学与统计学的区别
统计学分数理统计和经济统计两个方向。其中数理统计是属于数学科目里面的一个分支，数学从某种意义上说可以是统计学的基础。统计偏向分支，更加细化，没有数学那么宽泛；经济统计是偏向统计学知识在经济中的应用的。
