    3月15日收到Clemson中国女AP的反套,问我有没有兴趣和她talk something through the phone,我是做ME微机械热流的,她是做ME纳米材料原子级力学性能的。
AP: Hello, this is XXX from ME at Clemson.
MQ: Hello, Dr. XXX, this is MQ, how are you doing?
AP: Fine, thank you. I am interested in your paper, and I wanna ask you some questions. After that I think we could chat for a little.
MQ: OK. So what are your questions?
AP: The first question, could you introduce yourself briefly?
    MQ: Oh, sure.
Then I started reciting the self-introduction I've prepared, including my family and major, my undergraduate researches, my current status, my hobbies as well as my qualities that a scholar should have.
AP: OK, are you doing the master in HZ XXX?
MQ: No, I just live there. HZ is the place my home is located in.
AP: OK. I know from your introduction that you have been doing some research work in Dr. D (my undergraduate supervisor)' s lap. Is that in HZ XXX?
MQ: No, it's in WH XXX (my undergraduate school).
AP: Can you introduce your paper. Is that a computational result or a experimental one? And what's your specific contribution in this paper?
MQ: OK, I am first author of this paper, I did the modelings, meshings, and simulations, etc. by my own. Then I wrote the paper by myself, of course Dr. D helped me refine the results and polish the writing. Yes, it's a totally computational paper, and we didn't do any experiments to verify the results.
And then I gave her a brief presentation concerned with the whole process of simulations and paper writing.. more info on 1point3acres.com
AP: Yeah, I see you set up three different materials and cross-section shapes. Did you think up such designs by yourself or Dr. D asked you to do that.
MQ: I set up those nine models by myself. I had refered to a number of references and found that those three types of materials were very suitable for MCC's manufacturing, and three types of cross-sections could well represent the normal channel shapes as well. Of course I have discussed many details with Dr. D at times.
I began to be confused about what she was saying.
MQ: Sorry, I didn't catch your point, can you say that again?
Still can't follow her. Because her speech was kind of slurred and fast and professional. Besides, I doubt I have a disbility in listening.
MQ: do you mean its boundary conditions?
AP: Yes and what are they?
MQ: the whole model can be devided into three parts. The first part on the top is an LED chip, it's actually the heat source for the whole model. And, um, um...
AP: Did you see temperature changed dramatically in your modelings?
MQ: Yes. After the cooling fluid going through the whole channel, the chip cooled down quickly, and the temperature accordingly dropped.
AP: Oh, you mean you have the fluid with high velocity to help it cool down?
MQ: Yes. Actually I just refered to the laws and derivative equations from Heat Tansfer, it's a text book. And I uploaded the derivative convective heat transfer coefficient to channel surfaces.
AP: And, what are other boundary conditions and your results?
Then I got stuck in such expression. I can't even read the units, the characteristic numbers and so forth. Really regret not to put effort into ME professional English in the senior year.
AP: OK, you can speak Chinese.
I was really happy at that time, and I felt the heavy weight lifted off my heart!
AP: In terms of materials, which one is the best?
MQ: Copper MCC has better cooling performance over other two materials. Of course if we consider their CMOS compatible microfabrication benefits, silicon would be a very promising material.
MQ: could you please briefly introduce your research group, such as its current members, its facilities and research resources.. From 1point 3acres bbs
    AP: Can you follow me?
MQ: can't keep up with your pace.
    AP: Never mind.
    AP: Any questions?
    MQ: Thank you.
