Roane State Community College Reviews
Rating 3.92 out of 5 516 reviews
I honestly have really enjoyed Roane State. I transferred from Pellissippi State because I had a pretty terrible experience with them. My grades were fine, but the knowledge of the office staff and professors was lacking. From the moment I applied to transfer to Roane State, I could tell a huge difference. My advisor speaks to me with respect as well as all of my professors. The office staff is very knowledgeable of FAFSA regulations and other financial aid questions, and has always been uplifting. The Pellissippi staff talked to me like I was stupid more than once. I will always recommend this community college over others.
I have enjoyed many things at Roane State. A few of the things I’ve like about this school is the willingness to help each student from the financial aid office, the staff, and the advisors. Bring a first generation graduate, I’ve had to figure out many things myself, but thanks to the people at Roane State, it hasn’t been difficult. Another thing I like about Roane State is that there is always free food on Wednesdays. Yummy! Another thing I’ve enjoyed is how there is always some type of event where students can participate in and win things. One thing I would like to see changed is the way the Harriman campus looks. The inside is fine itself, but the outside looks dull and not welcoming. A few more plants, a few more colors, and pressure washing the outside of the building would make it look slight better. The Oak Ridge campus looks alot more appealing and welcoming than the Harriman campus. I think it should be the other way around. Overall, I have enjoyed this community college.
Roane state community college is a fine enough school that does not ask for much out of students academically, and thus is not likely to receive much. The Staff is very friendly and always willing to help, yet help is rarely needed since the school asks so little out of students other than their attention during classes. The school is perfect to go to part time, however this means that full time students will likely suffer due to long class times and a lack of extracurriculars. Overall the school was a decent experience as both a person and a student that I am happy that I graduated from, but I am also happy to be leaving it behind for something greater.
