As my first college/ university, I love it. I’m a low income student doing it on my own, yet I feel very supported. The staff at the college are kind and helpful. They’re very understanding as well. One thing I would like to see changed is things becoming more organized (all community colleges merged and it’s quite a change, so it’s understandable). The head of the department for my program is wonderful. She’s an admirable person, hard-working and an amazing professor. She helps me out the most, and I go to her because she knows best since she’s the head of the department. As for my other professors, I can say the same. This experience has been awesome and I’m so grateful to have the support and resources whenever I need them. I’m very happy having chosen this college beside the fact that it’s within reasonable distance from my living area. There’s a variety of activities there as well, and students are kind to each other. I feel at home and part of the community.
As a '23 alum, I recommend this campus. The location is convenient, and it's easy to get involved in what downtown Hartford has to offer. Everything being in one building makes it easy as well. The staff is helpful and conscious of the fact that most students have jobs and obligations outside of college. The only drawback is student life is weak, but that's to be expected from a community college.
I do enjoy capital. It is convenient and in the heart of CT. Transportation is easy, professor's are nice, I wish I could get a little more out of the learning experience. If it's hybrid classes it seems half class falls behind for not sticking to syllabus and the students following syllabus seem to suffer as a result.
