Questions About Applying

When should I apply/When is the deadline to apply as a transfer student?

You should apply as early as possible the semester before you wish to transfer. With the exception of certain majors, SLU accepts applications on a rolling basis.

SLU’s occupational therapy program requires that transfer applications be submitted by Feb. 15 for fall admission and by Oct. 15 for spring admission. Remember, your application is not considered complete until all required materials are submitted.

Is an essay and/or résumé required for the transfer application?

No, neither an essay nor résumé are required as part of your application for admission. In some cases, a personal statement may be required of applicants seeking readmission to the University.

What is the minimum GPA that will be considered for my major program?

The minimum for all admission is a 2.5 GPA, but the requirement could be higher depending on your major. The specific program pages have more detailed information on additional requirements.

What should I do if my application is incomplete because I don’t have college transcripts yet?

We still need information from that school, even if you’ve just started. Ask your college for a transcript showing the course schedule. You can also provide an unofficial schedule.

Is there an application fee to apply to SLU?

There is no application fee to apply for undergraduate admission to SLU.

Are my high school transcripts and/or ACT/SAT scores required for transfer admission?

High school transcripts are only required of applicants who have completed fewer than 24 transferable credit hours.

Saint Louis University has a standardized-test-optional admission process for all undergraduate programs beginning. Applicants may submit standardized test scores, but those who choose not to will not be disadvantaged in any way in the admission process.

I'm a transfer student but was accepted to SLU as a freshman and received a freshman scholarship. Is that award still available to me?

Transfer applicants who have attempted fewer than 24 transferable credit hours may be considered for a freshman merit-based scholarship, but must complete a new application for admission.

I'm a readmitted student and received a freshman scholarship. Is that award still available to me?

Yes. Students readmitted to SLU are allowed to have their previous award reinstated.
