This college was exciting to enroll in at first. I started the school with an equal balance of online and in person classes at the Ft. Lewis location. I was in person up until I had my child, and then once my child was born I switch to online. All of my teachers have known that I am a stay at home mom, disabled veteran, and an active duty wife. Apparently unless I, myself is the active duty member the professors couldn’t care less. I do not feel valued as a student at this school knowing at one point I was that active duty soldier and now I’m just an unvalued piggy bank. If the school would open their mind to being more opened arms and understanding of the difficulties of obtaining a degree, being a mom, and disabled I know this school would have a better reputation with the military. IF the school wanted a high graduation rate, adding the syllabus prior to enrollment could assist students. I’m not sure why all classes aren’t on the same page with grades and due dates.
I have had an incredible experience at Pierce College FS. On the first day, I showed up, I immediately felt welcomed. There were faculty and students alike who greeted me and made sure I had everything I needed. This school is super community-oriented, they do a great job of making you feel heard and appreciated.
I am a Running Start Senior currently at Pierce College. I enjoy my time here, I like it better then normal classes at my high school. The online classes are often easy and paced well. The professors from my in-person classes are usually very nice and seems like they care and give much effort in order to help the students learn well. I also like the resources there. The Health Education Center which features the gymnasium and weight room is free for all students. I work out there almost every day and I love it. The library is also a great resources. It is well taken care of and there are so many helpful tools and resources there for students.
