Financing Your Degree

Financial Aid

Applying for need-based financial aid is a separate process from your admission application. These funding opportunities are administered by Case Western Reserve University’s Office of Financial Aid, and are available for U.S. citizens or international applicants whose cosigner is a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.

Scholarships

Scholarships and graduate assistantships are based on the strength of your academic and personal credentials and are not need-based. Additional materials beyond the standard application are not required, and you are not required to apply separately for a scholarship or graduate assistantship.

Rather, you'll automatically be considered for a scholarship and graduate assistantship as part of the admission process. If selected for a merit-based scholarship or graduate assistantship, you'll be informed in your admission letter. Candidates are encouraged to apply early for maximum scholarship availability.

***These scholarships and assistantships do not pertain to the Executive MBA or Cleveland Clinic—Weatherhead Executive MBA programs. Scholarships for these programs can be found on their individual academic pages.

Loans

Higher education is an investment, and one option in paying for your degree tuition is a student loan. The Weatherhead School does not endorse any specific lender or receive compensatory benefit from any lender. We recommend careful consideration and comparison of all lending options and terms before entering into a loan agreement.

Loans are given to students who have demonstrated financial need and are repaid in accordance with the specific terms of the loan. Student loans may be private or government-sponsored, subsidized (need-based) or unsubsidized (non-need-based). Interest may not start to accrue until after graduation or it may begin immediately.

The university’s Office of Financial Aid provides detailed information on the types of loans that are available and how to apply for them.
