Overall, the college is exceptional. I have been in and out of classes throughout the years and no matter when I go back, the campus is still comfortable and the staff still cares!
I started taking summer classes when I was still in high school. I already knew COM was going to be my next step after I graduated. It is very affordable, and I was part of the 2020 graduating class. When COVID happened, my classes would be paid by COM if my FAFSA did not cover all the expenses. I believe, I did not need the aid, but I knew students who did not have FAFSA cover all their costs, and COM was able to cover the remaining balance. COM is very involved with the community. I liked all my teachers, and they were helpful when needed. After a suicide attempt, my teachers were very understanding and gave me options on how to move forward. I had someone reach out to me to about counseling, but I was already seeing a therapist, so I declined. COM is also growing and offering more programs. This is a college and community that cares about their students and their success. I hope to continue to hear and watch them grow.
I actually started with College of the Mainland in 2021, while I was a junior in. high school. I completed their dual credit program junior and senior year, which was very helpful for me entering college because I got a few classes out the way already, but I really enjoy this school. It's a small, but big campus, but classrooms are small, which makes it easier to have one on one and engaged professors, which I love at all. They are really resource able and local for me !
