MEng in Biomedical Engineering

The Master of Engineering (MEng) in Biomedical Engineering is a professional graduate degree program for students who intend to apply their advanced technical and leadership education and training to the development of new products for the healthcare, medical device, biotechnology, and biopharmaceutical sectors. The curriculum combines a full complement of technical engineering electives with an experiential, clinically focused biomedical product design and development sequence. Students in the MEng program will work with leading clinicians to observe and identify unmet clinical challenges, design and develop innovative engineering solutions to those challenges, and explore the regulatory, intellectual property, and reimbursement pathways that will ultimately advance the standard of patient care through the deployment of their innovations. Students are encouraged to focus their technical courses in one of several areas. The program is designed to be completed by full-time students in one academic year. September start only.

Learning Outcomes

Students who complete the MEng in Biomedical Engineering program will be able to:

  1. Apply knowledge of mathematics, science, and engineering to identify, formulate, and solve biomedical engineering problems.
  2. Understand the impact of engineering solutions in a global, economic, environmental, and societal context.
  3. Use modern engineering tools and techniques to successfully practice the engineering profession in a variety of settings.
  4. Use oral and written communication to convey technical concepts to engineers and non-engineers and collaborate as a member or leader of a technical project team.
