Admissions

Admissions to the Institute’s Ph.D. program are currently on hold.

Applications are reviewed during the Spring Semester for admission the following September. The Editorial Institute does not admit students to begin study in January. The application comprises several parts: the Application for Admission, found at the back of the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences Bulletin, as well as on the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences Website; transcripts from all undergraduate and graduate study; scores of the Graduate Record Examinations (GRE); three letters of recommendation, at least one of which is academic; and a thesis proposal detailing the edition or editorial project which will be the Master’s thesis or Doctoral Dissertation.

The Editorial Institute is able to recommend the awarding of some merit-based financial aid, offered as tuition scholarships, teaching fellowships, and research assistantships. Applicants are strongly advised to meet the January 15 application deadline in order to be considered for financial aid.

All potential applicants are encouraged to contact the institute for more information or to discuss thesis proposals. For more information, please call 617/353-6631, or e-mail editinst@bu.edu. The application deadline for prospective students applying is April 15th. Applications are available via the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences and must be completed online. Any supplementary materials toward the application should also be sent directly to the Graduate School and not to the institute.
