To be considered for departmental financial support, your application must be completed by December 12th.

Three letters of recommendation are required.  Letters should be from undergraduate research advisors and/or other faculty and relevant professionals who can comment on your research skills and potential.

A description of your research experience is required (it can be combined with your Statement of Purpose).  The description should include the current and/or previous research labs in which you have worked and describe any authored publications, presentations or other relevant scholarly work. The statement of purpose need not be extensive; however, generic statements of interest in biomedical engineering are discouraged.  You should indicate your motivation for pursuing graduate studies at UNC/NCSU, keywords of the research area(s) you wish to pursue and specific faculty members that you are interested in.

While a wide range of research activities exist, the Department currently identifies five major tracks in which faculty research generally falls: 1) Biomedical Imaging, 2) Microsystems Engineering, 3) Rehabilitation Engineering, 4) Regenerative Medicine, and 5) Pharmacoengineering.  From these five, also identify a primary and secondary research track.  Note that this information is only used as an aid in the application review process and carries no commitment to work in that research area if admitted.

This is a self-funded program. There are no assistantships nor is financial support provided by the department.

Three letters of recommendation are required.  Letters should be from faculty, work supervisors or other relevant professionals who can comment on your aptitude, work ethic, independence and/or collaborative skills

Your required statement of purpose document should be 1-2 pages.  This document should describe why you are interested in the M.S. program focusing on Translational Innovation and Entrepreneurship in biomedical engineering and its potential benefit to you and your career.
