What is Biostatistics? The word biostatistics is derived from the prefix bio, which involves biology, is the study of living things; the root, statistics is defined by accumulation, tracking, analysis, and application of data. Biostatistics is commonly used in large-scale efforts, such as drug testing and environmental model-building. Pharmaceutical companies rely heavily on biostatistics to track and interpret data and to take recommendations based on those interpretations for trial drugs.

The Master of Science in Biostatistics is a gateway to a fulfilling career. Students are able to choose to focus on cancer biostatistics, bioinformatics or epidemiology. Our curriculum includes general core methodology credits, a unique Research Practicum providing real world experience in exploring quantitative issues in biomedical research, and a bi-weekly seminar series with both nationally and internationally recognized experts in the field.
