Conditional Admission

Conditional admission to an undergraduate degree program at SDSU is for international students who want to apply to SDSU as first-time freshmen, but do not currently meet the SDSU English-language proficiency requirements. Academically eligible students can receive guaranteed admission to SDSU upon completion of English-language study at the American Language Institute or our University Pathway Program.

Requirements:

  • High school GPA of 3.0 or higher (on a 4-point scale).
  • No university coursework after high school (first-time freshman only)
  • Not available to students who attended an English-speaking high school for three or more years.
  • Students have two years to demonstrate English proficiency before enrolling in a bachelor's level degree program at SDSU.

Important: Conditional admission is not available to students seeking a master’s degree or second bachelor’s degree
