石溪大学数学专业本科生教育好不好

这是在facebook、unigo等地找到的美国学生对石溪大学本科数学的评价（没有作筛选，找到啥是啥）：

1.Most of the university's attention is on science, technology, engineering and mathematics majors and this often have the most work. However, there are some great and often underrated humanities instructor, as well. 这个说这个学校重理工（STEM），但仍然有不少好的人文教授。
2.Academics are very challenging. It is an extremely competitive school. You have to put a lot of time and effort into the math and science majors. It is not for someone who wants an easy degree. You can go to different school and get a higher GPA easily. 这个说这个学校GPA卡得比较低，说你在其它学校说不定轻易就可以拿个高GPA，再有就是数学、理科专业需要下点功夫
3.There is access to internships and job opportunities at the career center but nothing especially towards sociology as the school is mostly full of more science and math majors. 还是说这个学校重理轻文。然后说兼职和工作机会多多。
4.The math professors here suck, I learned everything by myself on the internet or meeting with my TA. Everything else seems to be ok。说这个学校的数学教授很烂的，自己基本都是跟着助教自学的，其它都还OK。
5.The academics at stony brook are exceptional. Best school for science and math. 说这个学校学术一切都很好，数理最佳学校。
6.The majority of the people at Stony Brook are science, engineering, math, or health services majors. 还是说这个学校偏重STEM，外加卫生/健康类专业。
7.Stony Brook's science and math courses are extremely challenging. My Chemistry and Math professors were terrible. They made class horrible and not worth going to class. 说这个学校数学和理科很难，教授很次，课上得很差，不值得去。
8.Number One in Research – Stony brook is a Famous research university. The professors are all great and work hard with the students. Stony brook is known for science and math majors. 研究非常棒，很著名的一所研究型大学。教授强悍，工作勤恳。以数学和科学著称。

这些个评论说明啥呢？1.石溪是以理工著称的，而且也侧重理工；2.至于教授可能就各有各的感受了，有好也有差；3.数学可能有点难（对美国人。。）

怎么说呢，本科主要还是看学校，跟专业的关系不是很大。
