史蒂文斯理工学院金融工程纽约州立大学石溪分校计量金融研究生录取，两个学校排名差不多，该选哪一个呢，请给个建议，多谢了！

选史蒂文斯理工学院的金融工程。原因有三：

1）2015QuantNet金融工程排名，史蒂文斯金融工程排名全美第30，石溪没有上榜

2）2016FTE美国金融工程硕士排名，史蒂文斯排名第13，石溪排第34

3）史蒂文斯看起来虽然位于新泽西州，不在纽约州，但实际上地理位置非常优越——“霍博肯位于纽约大都会区，是该都会区的主要交通枢纽之一，它的地理最高点是位于一座位于史蒂文斯校园西班牙古堡，站在该古堡之上可以俯瞰纽约市中心曼哈顿的风景。”霍博肯也就是史蒂文斯的所在地。石溪虽然看起来再纽约州，但实际上距离纽约市比较遥远，还有55英里。

What is the difference between the MMF (Masters in Mathematical Finance) and MSF (Masters of Science in Finance) programs offered at IIT?

Answer:  
The MMF program is designed for individuals with strong quantitative skills who are interested in developing mathematical models for valuation and hedging of financial derivatives. Thus the MMF program prepares students for junior quantitative analyst positions. The MSF program is designed for individuals who will be targeting financial analyst positions that do not require advanced quantitative skills.

The MMF curriculum requirements include classes that give students a rigorous theoretical, mathematical and computational background in finance, with a focus on asset pricing and hedging of financial risks. The MSF curriculum requires a broad grounding in finance, including topics (such as financial statement analysis) which are not heavily quantitative. MSF courses cover the material with less of an emphasis on formal mathematics. 

Question 2:
I'm interested in a career as a quant. Which program should I enroll in: MSF or MMF?

Answer: 
Both programs provide excellent preparation for work in quantitative finance. Which program you should choose largely depends on your interests and background.

The MMF program is appropriate for those students who can handle rigorous mathematics and would like to gain a deep understanding of the mathematical foundations of modern finance. It is not a theoretical program; students emerge from the program with strong programming skills and experience implementing financial models. They also will gain exposure to one or two specialized applied areas within finance, such as trading, risk management and financial programming.

What are the career options after the MMF program?

Answer: 
A graduate from the MMF program may seek a position as a junior quantitative analyst (quant) with financial institutions such as banks, trading corporations or hedge funds.

What technology is used in the MMF program?

Answer: 
Students learn computational aspects of modern finance using programming languages such as C++ and Python. In addition, students learn modern simulation methodologies.

这是IIT上关于金融数学硕士（MMF）与金融硕士（MSF）的区别，IIT的金融数学硕士在QuantNet上是被列为金融工程项目的，2015年排在第29位，刚好比史蒂文斯理工学院高一个位置。

你这5个项目，其实就是IIT的金融和史蒂文斯的金融工程二选一，其它都没有考虑的必要。其它三个，对金融来说，地理位置都太差，而且综排也都远逊史蒂文斯，没有考虑的必要。

IIT和史蒂文斯对比，主要看你是喜欢金融工程还是金融。如果是喜欢金融，那就选IIT，如果是喜欢金融工程那就选史蒂文斯。不过依我的判断，你既然敢申金融工程硕士项目，那么数学功底一定不会差，应该也会更倾向于数据分析类的工作的。国内留学选金融的太多，一不小心整成推销的了，还是选金融工程更靠谱一点，毕竟不是每个学金融的人都可以学金融工程的。

综上，我的建议还是史蒂文斯理工学院。

The principal difference between the MSF and MSFE programs is the greater emphasis on quantitative techniques and programming required in the MSFE program.  The MSFE prepares students for quantitatively- oriented finance careers, including careers in derivatives valuation, hedging, risk management, trading and portfolio management. The curriculum includes applied mathematics and statistics, computer programming, and finance. Half of the courses are taught by engineering faculty and the other are taught by finance faculty.

你看的那个是USNEWS世界大学排名吧，这个排名影响力逊于QS、THE和ARWU。石溪国内影响力还可以吧，因为招的中国学生多，校友力量是一支不可忽视的力量。

/@tutu 石溪主要是CS不错，每年CS录的中国学生超多。纽约计算科学中心（NYCCS）在这里，是和布鲁克黑文国家实验室共建的，有一台被称为“蓝色基因”的超级计算机。
